CAUX-IofC Inaugurates the «First Steps » Exhibition in Montreux

On Monday, the 11th of April, 2016, The CAUX–Initiatives of Change Foundation (CAUX-IofC) had the immense pleasure of presenting its exhibition, entitled « First Steps », to the general public at the Montreux Market Place. Through portraits and stories, the exhibition highlights the paths of several individuals who took a first step towards change. Gathered in the emblematic indoor marketplace, visitors, passers by, friends of Caux and political figures attended the inauguration in the presence of Mr. Laurent Wehrli, Mayor of Montreux, and Mrs. Barbara Hintermann, Secretary-General of the CAUX-IofC Foundation.

Mr. Laurent Wehrli commended the CAUX-IofC Foundation’s contribution to the international visibility of the village of Caux, and recalled that, in many ways, the Commune of Montreux shared the Foundation’s mission, goals, and objectives. Mr. Wehrli also highlighted the importance of engaging in dialogue and reinterpreting the capacity of people to appreciate one another, talk to one another, and above all, look together for solutions beyond differences and conflicts.

Mrs. Barbara Hintermann recalled that the Foundation’s vision of establishing a just, peaceful, and sustainable world, in which all act mindfully, is made possible by the personal initiatives and constructive first steps taken each day. Mrs. Hintermann encouraged visitors to find inspiration in the testimonies exhibited, to take their own first steps, and to become « the instigators of the changes they want to see in the world. » Mrs. Hintermann also warmly thanked the Commune of Montreux, the SHMS, and Goldenpass for their support.

Mrs. Daphrose Barampama, whose story is among the sixteen personal journeys on display in Montreux, was also present to share the story of her own beginnings with the « Peace Circles » that brought her to launch development projects in Burundi.

The visitors were then invited to discover, over a friendly verrée, the eighteen panels illustrating the unique journeys of ordinary people who initiated extraordinary changes.

Come visit the itinerant « First Steps » exhibition, on display at the Montreux Market Place until the 15th of June 2016 !
