Closing of the Caux Expo and post office

Caux Palace – Conference and Seminar Centre

As part of the re-structuring in the Caux Palace – Conference and Seminar Centre, the Council of IofC Switzerland have decided to close the postal agency and the bookshop. The Caux Expo is now also closed to the public. The Foundation is aiming to develop more outside lets and receptions in the Promenoir and the splendid but under-used space of the Caux Expo.

The Council would like to express their gratitude to the many volunteers who have manned this space over the years, to begin with, only through the summer conferences. And also to the paid staff who have in more recent years, opened and run this space all the year round. We will study what seems to be an appropriate response to the needs to Forum participants for next summer, in terms of books, postcards and toiletries.

The Foundation is looking for donors in order to re-open the ex-post office and create a space to meet cultural (with information panels about the history of the Foundation and the house, as well as the national park), social (coffee/snacks to gather tourists, students and inhabitants of the village) and commercial needs (with a local shop).

Photo exhibition "Within my Walls and Beyond" by Undine Groeger, 15 July 2015 - 31 March 2016

German artist Undine Groeger's photo exhibition at the CAUX Expo represents a personal journey towards understanding Germany’s past. It includes three generations that experienced the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall, and, in parallel, opens a window onto life in a place that can be reminiscent of former East Germany, Transnistria, a post-Soviet frozen conflict zone between Moldova and Ukraine.

Within My Walls and Beyond was first exhibited in November, 2014 to mark the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It was initially made possible through the support of the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, private sponsors, and collaborators.
