Caux Dialogue on Land and Security 2019
27 - 30 June 2019 / Registration will open on 1 April 2019

Caux Dialogue on Land and Security

Living landscapes: Putting people in the centre of ecosystem restoration

Attempts by various actors and institutions have shown that the only way to achieve sustainable and long-term landscape regeneration is to put local people in charge and to involve the community. The benefits of large-scale ecosystem restoration are potentially huge: climate change reversed, environmental migration curbed and peace sustained.

The 2019 edition will focus on community action and the power of the individual in tackling the most pressing issues of our time. Some of the world's most renowned experts, political thinkers and thought leaders will discuss how environmental problems negatively impact a community’s peace and stability and conversely, how cooperation to solve environmental problems can contribute to building peace.

  • activists, experts and researchers in the fields of peace and security

What past participants say

The dialogue that I have joined this week has been exceptional in that it provides a restful, safe and neutral place for people to really explore what the issues are in a way that is going to change the world.

Gina Pattisson, Development Director, Commonland

I enjoyed the event and have gained a lot of insight from discussions with many participants, young and old!

Martin Lees, former Secretary General of Club of Rome and Member of Gorbachev High Level Task Force on Climate Change

We’ve been introduced to organizations deeply trusted by local communities, so they are natural partners for introducing technology we believe has huge potential. They are a great bridge between what we’re building and what we hope to achieve – massive reforestation.

Matthew Ritchie, representatives of BioCarbon Engineering, CDLS 2016
