CATS 2018

Children as Actors for Transforming Society (CATS) came together for the sixth edition of the CATS Forum, bringing together some 300 adults and children from 46 countries for a full week of sharing and learning. Participants returned down the mountain full of new ideas, new knowledge and new friends.

Caux Forum 2018, Oui Act

Gerby Lineau is 17 and comes from Saint Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis), a Parisian suburb. In addition to this being his first time taking part in CATS (Children as Actors for Transforming Society, it is also his first trip abroad. ‘It’s the first time I’ve been somewhere like this, with such stunning scenery. I met some nice people but I didn’t speak English very well,’ he told us.

CATS 2018, Shawn Andrews

Shawn Andrews, an indigenous Australian, has created Indigicate, which teaches Australian school children about Aboriginal culture. Indigicate training isn’t held in classrooms, but outdoors. We met with Shawn when he was holding an outdoor morning session at the CATS forum.

CATS 2018, Caux Forum 2018, opening

Lights, camera, action! The CATS Conference 2018 has officially started! The Caux Palace has transformed into a community filled with laughter, love and an ocean of different cultures and languages and the opening of CATS 2018 was a huge success. From the performance to the talk show to the Facebook live stream viewed by many and hosted by Aksa, one of our MEOW members - everyone was enraptured.

The 2017 edition of CATS (Children as Actors for Transforming Society) saw the launch of the 90 Day Challenge. The idea was simple: CATS participants thoroughly explored their ideas for a range of topics including the environment, education and peace whilst at Caux. Once home, from 20 August 2017, they had 90 days to put their ideas into action. The aim was to provide the participants with the necessary drive and motivation to dive in and to make a start on a project despite not having to necessarily produce results.

CATS 2017

‘We are the citizens of today and tomorrow,’ stated Kehkashan Basu, 17, winner of the 2016 International Children’s Peace Prize, as she opened the fifth edition of Children as Actors for Transforming Society (CATS). Empowering children to become the leaders of tomorrow is what CATS is all about. CATS 2017 gathered 264 children, young people and adults of 34 nationalities to promote inclusion and to give children experiencing exclusion a voice.
