Group Facilitation Methods training in Geneva

The first Group Facilitation Methods training in Switzerland was organized by CAUX-Initiatives of Change in partnership with ICA:UK and the Impact Hub Geneva on 12-13 November 2014.

In the welcoming space of the Impact Hub Geneva, the ICA:UK trainers Jonathan Dudding and Rob Lancaster masterfully guided 14 participants through practical exercises of the two core methods of the Technology of Participation (ToP) Approach: the Focused Conversation Method and the Consensus Workshop.

In the Focused Conversation Method, the participants learnt to lead a group through a series of objective, reflective, interpretative and decisional (ORID) questions. This method provides a framework for focused conversation and can be applied in almost any context.

When practicing the different stages of the Consensus Workshop Method, a well-structured method for leading a group to consensus in a participatory way, the participants experienced challenges and excitement.

While applying the new tools, the participants addressed their own burning questions and reflected on, shared and developed their training and facilitation experience. They left the training inspired and empowered to connect people in view of sparking social change.
